Mary Chayse is a North Carolina artist living in Burlington, NC with her husband, Luke, and their golden-retriever, Ryder. She fell in love with thick painting while studying art at Clemson University and grew to know that the only thing she ever wanted was to be an artist. She uses layer upon layer of palette knife textures, thick globs of paint, and color to create a space that feels familiar like the world around us, but also ambiguous, general, and abstracted.
